Dialectic Fallout Settings

Open Fallout's Mod Configuration Menu and select Dialectic. These settings are saved to the separate dialectic_custom.ini file.

All Dialectic hotkeys are unbound by default. Bind only the controls you intend to use.

Hotkeys

  • Chatbox: Type a message to the current target or nearest valid NPC.
  • Voice Chat: Record push-to-talk microphone input.
  • Manual AI Activate: Add the targeted actor manually.
  • Toggle Modes: Choose Standard, Whisper, Shout, Narrator, Director, Inject Event, or Inject & Chat.
  • Toggle LLM Model: Choose the server-owned Standard, Fast, Powerful, or Experimental model preset.
  • Halt AI Actions: Immediately stop AI dialogue, rechat, queued speech, and managed actions.
  • Dynamic Profile Menu: Open the combined dynamic-profile command menu.

Auto Activate

Enable Auto Activate and set separate interior and exterior distances. Spatial hearing distances control who can hear and participate, while policy options decide whether hostile actors or additional races can be added.

Combat settings control combat dialogue, clearing dialogue on combat entry, combat barks, and their cooldown.

Behavior

Behavior contains the server connection timeout, Pause Dialogue in Menus, Show AI Subtitles, Scene Safety, Dynamic Profile Timer, Include Narrator, and Bored Event Timer.

Pause Dialogue in Menus freezes the current audio and the remaining queue while the Pip-Boy or blocking menus are open. Scene Safety prevents AI systems from interfering with protected game scenes.

Sound

Sound controls AI voice volume, 3D audio, camera-based audio, distance scaling, interior and exterior dropoff, heading inversion, microphone device and open-mic behavior, audio trimming, and lip animation resolution and intensity.

Use 3D Audio Playback for actor-positioned voices. Camera Based Audio changes direction relative to the camera instead of the player character.

AI Agents

Add or remove the targeted NPC, add or remove all nearby AI agents, list active agents, and refresh the nearby NPC scan. Manual activation can include actors excluded from normal automatic activation when allowed by policy.

Tools

Send Faction and Location Info refreshes relevant world metadata. Send All Voice Samples requests a broader scan of installed Fallout voice samples for server-side TTS mapping.

Always-On Runtime Behavior

Some safety and integration behavior is intentionally not exposed in MCM. Dynamic profiles remain available and are controlled by their timer, spatial awareness stays active, AI speakers suppress overlapping vanilla dialogue, and capable actors face their target once when speech begins.
